As 2022 draws to a close, many Americans will wonder if they can expect financial relief in the new year as they continue to struggle with high costs.

The IRS has already warned that the absence of federal stimulus payments in 2022 could affect refunds in 2023. agency last month. “Taxpayers will not receive additional stimulus payments with their 2023 refunds because there were no economic payments in 2022.”

Governor Jared Polis signed legislation earlier this year to provide a tax credit of $750 to individual clerks and $1,500 to joint treasurers.

New Mexico

Residents of the state received financial relief in the form of two tax breaks spread over three payments.

The first sent $250 to single filers with a gross income below $75,000 and $500 to joint filers with an income of $150,000.

The second rebate, which had no income restrictions, was split into two and sent $500 to single filers and $1,000 to joint filers.

New Mexico residents have until May 2023 to file their 2021 income taxes and qualify for a refund, according to the state Department of Taxation and Revenue.


Pennsylvania sent a one-time payment to Pennsylvania seniors who are eligible for tax refunds or rent payments in 2021.

The maximum rebate is $650, but those who qualify for additional rebates can receive up to $975.

The income limit is $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded. The deadline for applications is December 31st.

South Carolina

South Carolina lawmakers approved $1 billion in tax refunds this year.

The first round of refunds, which amounted to $800, was issued on October 17, according to the Department of Revenue. The second round will be released in March 2023 for taxpayers who file their taxes in 2021 until February 15.
