The beginning of the school year brings many new opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities after school. Ranging from honor societies to contact sports, Wando
High School offers its students a multitude of organizations to be a part of. One of the school’s newest members is the boys’ volleyball team. Volleyball is a team sport that
includes nets, volleyball and cooperation. Before the men’s volleyball team can become a sports team, it must be a club for two years. This process has been extended due to the
time hiatus, which is the result of the pandemic. After completing two years as a club, the proposal to make the club team a sanctioned sport was put before an appeals committee
and approved in May 2022. . So, officially, there is now a men’s volleyball team playing under Wando’s name. With 41 other men’s volleyball teams across the state, this team

women’s volleyball coach, Kretzschmar was a last-minute addition to the team and he couldn’t be more excited to be there. Glover played a key role in the initial founding of
the men’s volleyball team before they were approved as an accepted sport. She met with a multi-person committee to discuss how they should proceed to form this group. “Believe
it or not, in the Midwest, the North, California, Texas and Florida, they always have men’s volleyball. So South Carolina progressed a bit slowly but here we are,” Glover said.
With the help of numerous directors and representatives across the state, the men’s volleyball team was able to become a club in 2019. However, for the sport to be accepted, at
