Vishakapatnam: There were mixed reactions from people at the events in Visakhapatnam last week.

Many people say that Vizag needs development. But it should not be a fun place for those with political agendas like Visakha Garjana or organized programs to show the power exercised by political leaders.

Andhra University dean (International Affairs) Dhananjaya Rao said, he is expecting widespread development in Visakhapatnam. The port city is growing rapidly. But if the government works hard, it will grow faster, he pointed out.

Darapu Srikanth Satish Kumar, assistant professor at Gitam University, said, “I think such political agendas are not necessary for the common man to decide what he wants. This is if Vizag becomes the capital. The will people here in peace,” he said.

Koduru Sumana, a veteran dancer, said that the single capital is a good option for the development of all sectors. In terms of capital, it doesn’t matter. As Amaravati is a hub for all parts of the state, it is a great option. However, he maintains that Visakhapatnam will be developed like cities in the country like Mumbai and Delhi.

Dunna Srihari, a taxi driver in Dwaraka Nagar, said Vizag should be the capital. It can be a resource for many people like him in the unorganized sector. As the city grows, more people can start different small businesses, he said.

B. Hima Bindu, a landlady of TSR Apartment in Shivajipalem, said that if capital comes to the city, the cost of living will go up. “I don’t want a city-related brand,” Bindu continued.
