Vijayawada: YSRCP Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy has requested the Central government to set up a drone research center in Visakhapatnam. Speaking about the issue in the House, at no time on Monday, the MP said that with the increasing demand for drone technology in agriculture, defense and transport industries, it is necessary the Center to establish a drone research center in the port city.
Vijayasai Reddy said that the use of drones will reduce the cost of farming by helping farmers in spraying pesticides and testing water. As 65 percent of people in AP depend on agriculture, and the state is leading in irrigation, horticulture and agriculture, the Central government should encourage the use of drones by farmers, he thought.
The MP said further research in drone technology will help people, especially farmers in general.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Biseswar Tudu has said that there is no delay in reimbursing the bills for the Polavaram project works. In response to a question asked by Vijayasai Reddy, the minister said that the Central government has spent Rs 15,970 crore on the Polavaram works from April 2014 to October, 2022.
Biseswar Tudu said that the Central government has released the funds for the Polavaram bills after monitoring the works by Polavaram Project Authority, and Central Water Commission.
The Central government decided on September 30, 2016 to release the Polavaram project funds through the finance ministry. However, according to the ministry’s memo, it has been decided to bear the cost of the irrigation project from April 1, 2014, and the Central government has reimbursed the cost as per the schedule. , he explained.
