In the first place, the Visakhapatnam railway station will implement the “One Station One Product” concept, informed the Railway Board on Friday.

The Central government has announced “One Station One Product” in the new budget. Vishakapatnam station is the first station on East Coast Railway to implement the concept. It will run on a pilot basis for 15 days.

Located very close to the famous Etikoppaka lacquer ware toy village, Etikoppaka toys and handicrafts from the village will be displayed and sold at the Vishakapatnam stand.
Waltair Divisional manager told ANI that Vishakapatnam will be a magnet to attract sales.

“The railway station will act as a sales channel and separate a store where local products will be sold, apart from that area. Therefore, the Railway Board has recommended to find one center in each this zonal train to implement the concept, as a pilot project for a period of 15 days. East Coast Railway’s Visakhapatnam station has been identified as the first station in the region to implement the “One platform one product,” said Anup Kumar Sethupathi, Waltair Divisional Manager.

The Divisional Director informed that temporary stalls will be set up at the market and display of handicrafts and those who are interested can submit their application to the General Divisional Director.

‚ÄúTemporary shops will be set up by the Railways. Kiosks will be placed in convenient locations during parking on site. Identification of workers and women workers will be done through local self-help groups (SHGs), NGOs, and cooperatives based on identified products,” said Tirupathi, Divisional Commercial Manager.

The railway authorities have also appealed to the workers with experience in drug making and hailing from within and around the Visakhapatnam region to take advantage of this unique opportunity and sell their products.
