IIT-Kharagpur completed the first phase of the 2021-22 placement session in the second week of December, with more than 1,600 job offers and more than 900 internship opportunities, said a statement released by the institute.
The season has started with more than 500 pre-placement bids (PPOs), which soon jumped to more than 1,000 bids on its second day, “a milestone across all IITs”, the statement said on Saturday. The institute listed 48 offers in the CTC range from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2.64 crore.
More than 45 plus offers came from international companies, said the statement. This year, five foreign students also found work in the session. More than 300 companies are participating in the first phase across a wide range of sectors, including software, analytics, consulting, core engineering firms, banking and high-frequency trading. Companies recruiting students in the recently concluded session include Airbus, Accenture Japan, Da Vinci Derivatives, Excel, Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Squarepoint Capital, NK Securities, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Steel.
The head of the institute’s Career Development Center, A Rajakumar, said ”IIT KGP’s strong curriculum and students’ technical skills” were the reasons behind the great success.
The next phase of placement sessions is scheduled to start in the second week of January 2023.
More core companies are expected to offer placements and internship opportunities to students in the second phase, added Rajakumar.
