Tata Steel will continue to invest in Odisha which has 25 percent of India’s total steelmaking capacity to support the country’s growth, said TV company MD and CEO Narendran on Thursday, December 1. Tata Steel has so far invested more than Rp75,000 crore in the state. TV Narendran spoke at ‘Make in Odisha Conclave 2022’ in Bhubaneswar, the state capital.

TV Narendran said, “The Tata group of companies, and especially Tata Steel, have invested Rp75,000 crore in Odisha in last five years. We will continue to invest to support growth in Odisha.”

During the event, Narendran said that Tata Steel not only built its factory in Kalinganagar over the past few years in Odisha, but also acquired several assets including the Neelachal Ispat factory. He said Tata Steel is the largest steel producer in the state. Narendran said Tata Steel produces about nine million tons of steel every year.

TV Narendran said, “We plan to double this over the next few years as we expand across all of our locations in Odisha. Odisha accounts for 1/4 of the steel capacity in the country at present.”

Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said India’s total steelmaking capacity has touched around 150 MT.
