After several days of driving more than 10 hours, we had an easy day ahead of us. Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam. The trip was not very short in terms of time, about eight hours or so, but the highway was beautiful and our lunch stop had some lip-smacking food!

We started early from Bhubaneswar, so we could take a detour and shoot the Chilika lake on the way. And we woke up eager. We went again on NH16, which is the main road that took us to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata, and since it is a popular road, there were many hotels on the way where we could stop for breakfast. But one thing they all have in common, they are all busy. We don’t know if it’s just before 8 o’clock or if it’s Independence Day – you want to be very happy with that. As we found a small shop selling idli, vada and upma and decided to eat there, it was a good decision. The food was hot, fresh and really tasty which explained the line of people waiting for their orders. After breakfast, we proceeded to Chilka Lake which is a 20-30 minute drive from NH16.

When we arrived at the lake, we found it a bit too busy for our shoot, but a little exploring led us to a narrow dirt path that was perfect for taking pictures with the lake in the background. After the shoot was over, we continued on our way to Vishakapatnam and the rest of the trip, unlike many others before it, went like clockwork. NH16 is a very good road which is best when you are going to Andhra Pradesh. The road surface is good and free of potholes, and the car is not very tight. We stopped for lunch on a roadside dhaba eat another dal tadka and (tasty) fruit and more rotis before we want to say goodbye and go to Visakhapatnam.

The skies opened up briefly a couple of times during the trip, and a couple of times the rain was heavy but not too long and we easily reduced our ETA. Before we entered the city, we stopped at one of the Tea Time shops on the road that offered a wide variety of teas, then drove until nightfall – Teas select Visakhapatnam. Of course, like other Lemon Tree Hotel establishments, Keys Select is still with its hospitality and cleanliness and we had a simple, but delicious meal in the comfort of our room. Tomorrow is an easy drive ahead of us to Vijayawada.
