The Rotary Club of Vijayawada, Mid Town on Sunday held the Little Olympics for students at VP Sidhartha Public School in Vijayawada. Nearly 500 children of different ages participated in the event.
Rio Olymipcs hockey player E Rajani opened the Mini Olympics with a torch relay. School Olympics track and field athlete Jyothika Sri and veteran athlete S Padmanabhan presented the torch to Olympic athlete Rajani. The children enthusiastically participated in running to support the students in sports and games.
Speaking on the occasion Olympic hockey player Rajanji said that parents should encourage students to play sports and games. She says the school feels childhood is the right age to learn games and sports. She suggests sport is a part of education and everyone should be actively involved in sports and games.
“I attended a public school in Chittoor district and developed the sport through the encouragement of the government,” she added.
Students enthusiastically participate in sports and games. Hundreds of parents came to VP Sidhartha Public School to watch Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Gymnastics and other sporting events.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) DNV Sports Coach Vinayak Prasad, Fitness Teacher, SAAP Coach and others contributed to the success of the Mini Games. In the 600 meter sprint, student Ch Asish from Nalanda School came in first place.
Vijayawada’s spinning club, Mid Town president Tadiparthi Kishan Babu, secretary Maganti Krishna Prabu, youth services president K Prasad Chimmana, director Yadla Pardha Saradhi, Mansoor Ahmed Syed, P Siva Sankar Yadav and others were attend the program.
