Players compete in a match of the College Volleyball Challenge organized by Sharjah Women’s Sports.
As a way to encourage female students to get involved in sports and local activities, the Community Sports Department at Sharjah Women’s Sports held an intercollegiate volleyball competition on Tuesday.
In order to create a competitive spirit among female students, the Volleyball Tournament has the participation of 6 universities.
The event was held at Sharjah Women’s Sports headquarters with students from Al Qasimia University (A), Al Qasimia University (B), University of Sharjah, UAE University, American University of Sharjah and American University Dubai compete for the top honors.
The American University of Dubai team took first place and the American University of Sharjah came in second, while the third place went to the Al Qasimia University A team.
In the volleyball challenge, the teams showed strong performances with high competitive spirit. The teams are divided into two groups and the winners of each group advance to the semi-finals before the final, the final deciding the outcome of the event.
Noura Al Hammar, Head of Community Sports at Sharjah Women’s Sports, expressed her joy at the success of the college volleyball tournament.
“Based on the vision of His Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Founder of Sharjah Women’s Sports, and in line with the organizational goal of strengthening the culture of women’s sport in the Emirate, we are pleased to host a That new sporting challenge is an important part of community events, as college students are a ray of hope for a brighter future,” said Noura.
She emphasized that the challenge is part of a series of sporting and community events that the department plans to organize throughout the year to promote sport among all walks of life and of all ages.
“In addition, this will also help promote volleyball among students,” added Noura.
