Jamshedpur, 20 Dec: Tata Steel Group and PGTI will host the Tata Steel Tour Championship at the Beldih and Golmuri golf courses in Jamshedpur from 21 to 24 December.

This tournament boasts the largest prize purse in PGTI with prize money doubling to Rs 3 crore this year. This field will feature an elite field of 77 professionals.

The Tata Steel Tour Championship is the closing event for the 2022 Tata Steel PGTI season.

This tournament is a 72-hole stroke-play championship and no cuts will be applied. There is a guaranteed prize money for all participants. The pre-tournament Pro-Am event was played on December 19.

As per the format of the four rounds, half of the course will play their first nine holes at Golmuri and the second nine at Beldih while the other half will play their first nine holes at Golmuri and the second nine at Beldih.

From the second round onwards, the top/front half of the leaderboard (top group by score) will play their first nine holes at Golmuri and the second nine at Beldih. The award ceremony will be held at Beldih Golf Club on Saturday, 24 December.

The tournament will feature glittering courses including some of the biggest names in Indian golf like Jeev Milkha Singh, Gaganjeet Bhullar (2020 champion), SSP Chawrasia, Shiv Kapur, Jyoti Randhawa and Rashid Khan.

The field will also feature the top 60 of the Tata Steel PGTI Ranking with notable names Manu Gandas (leader of the Tata Steel PGTI Ranking), Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Om Prakash Chouhan and Karandeep Kochhar as well as Udayan Mane (2019 and 2021 champion).

The tournament will determine the PGTI Order of Merit champion for the 2022 PGTI Tata Steel season, an event that is likely to be closely contested.

The two golf courses, Beldih and Golmuri are both lush green, beautiful and well maintained, set against the backdrop of the stunning Dalma Hills.

While the 70-year-old Beldih Golf Course flaunts long fairways, the Golmuri Golf Course is a smaller, greener, boutique course that forbids golfers from making mistakes.
