You’ve made it to December! The second year is almost over. I hope you are proud of what you have achieved over the past 12 months. I hope you can honor all the ups and downs and celebrate where you are today, even if it’s not where you want to be forever. Sometimes just admitting it can help bring relief. Life is a journey, not a destination. It’s okay if you’re not enjoying the view right now; Things will change, you will continue to grow, and life will go on.

The month of December gets busy as soon as it starts. We have some bold cosmic energies floating around in the first few weeks, including a fiery Gemini Full Moon on December 7th. We also have some amazing Galactic energy to work with, with the Antares stargate opening from December 2-4 and the Sun aligning with the Galactic Center from December 18-20.

As we approach the end of the month, the energy around us will begin to slow down, and we will have to make some effort to match its pace, or it may feel a little overwhelming!

Part of this slowing energy is due to Mercury, which enters retrograde on December 29th, joining Mars, which has been retrograde since October. These two planets in retrograde together will create some sticky, foggy, and perhaps confusing energy to wade through.

It may be that it is difficult to see the way forward, or that we feel stuck when it comes to making decisions. We may feel that things have stopped, including ourselves. This planetary combination can affect our energy levels, making us feel jittery or sluggish. For this reason, it is important to pace yourself this month.

Don’t overcommit, and make time for self-care and happiness! It’s easy to get caught up in responsibilities and duties this month, but make sure you’re also enjoying yourself and doing things that fill you up.

Also, with retrograde energy coming from Mercury and Mars, you may want to have a backup plan if you’re traveling later in the month or hosting a large gathering. Once you have some backup or contingency plans, go with the flow! Trust in God’s providence, even those delayed flights!

The solstice falls at this time of year on December 21st, a celebration of the light and darkness that resides within. It’s a holy day, so use it as your marker to get yourself in order. To guide you, I am hosting a Solstice Reality Workshop with Dream Oracle, Holly Emmerson. You can find out more here.

Let’s take a closer look at the dates for the next month. Don’t forget, if you want to keep up with full moons, new moons, eclipses, retrogrades and more through 2023, get your own moon calendar! Available here.

December Astrology 2022

December 1: Mars retrograde opposite Venus

Venus has been very active in our cosmic sky for the past few months. She is now traveling beyond boundaries, which means her energy can be felt at an exaggerated level. Venus rules our relationships, not only with others but with money. We’ve probably noticed themes surrounding this over the past few months. As Venus approaches Mars retrograde, there will be another boost in her energy, touching on any of the themes that have come up for us. By the end of the month, we should also see Venus rising in the evening. Evening star Venus reminds us to love our shadow side. It also focuses on self-love and making sure we are returning love to ourselves.

December 2-5: Sun aligns with Antares

This is one of the most powerful and magnetic cosmic portals of the year! As the Sun aligns with the Royal Star Antares, it unlocks strong galactic energy that beams down to Earth, raising our vibration and aligning us with our highest purpose. Antaras is said to be the resting place for souls as they leave their earthly bodies and journey to higher realities. In this resting place, souls are reminded of the love and beauty that life has to offer. We can relate to the memory of visiting this place or knowing it. We can also reconnect with our soul journey and remind ourselves that we are truly lucky to be here on this human journey. Antares is also associated with the heart, it is the heart of Scorpio and the arrow point of Sagittarius the archer. Stay tuned for more on this incredible gateway and how to work with it!

December 3: Neptune direct

Neptune stations direct, leaving us with only one outer planet in retrograde. Outer planets, or planets farthest from the Sun, do not affect us as strongly when they retrograde compared to planets closer to the Sun. Neptune is the planet of illusion, creativity, high dreams, and unconditional love. When this station directs, we are reminded to connect with our intuition and to trust ourselves. We may feel a deeper spiritual connection or extra creativity on this day. Neptune can create fog at times, but as it clears from retrograde, the fog can clear, allowing us to see things with new clarity. You can learn more about this here.

December 7: Gemini Full Moon

This full moon carries some fiery, volatile energy. It’s quite warm, and although it’s not as strong as the Blood Moon Eclipse we had in November, it could very well be the energy we’re working with right now. This Full Moon is conjunct Mars retrograde, so these themes will be very active right now. Mars retrograde can trigger our fears and where we are holding on to warm feelings. We may notice hot button topics coming up in the world around us or even in our own lives. Mars retrograde can also affect our energy levels, making us feel more tired or sluggish. Overall, this full moon brings some heat to it, but we can use this energy to work on our emotions and get excited about life again. If you feel like you’re in a rut or that life has lost some meaning, use the energy of this full moon to rekindle your inner fire. Spend time exploring what makes you happy and what makes you happy.

December 8: Venus crosses the Galactic Center

Venus crosses the critical point known as the Galactic Center. As the name suggests, it is the center of our Galaxy and is home to energetic energies and many mysteries! Since Galactic energy can be supercharged, the activation of Venus can help expand our heart center and focus on all the good in our lives. We may feel extra abundant or find new ways to celebrate what we have.

December 12: 1212 Angel Number

1212 is a high frequency angel number that represents completion and graduation. As we honor and understand the wholeness within and celebrate any graduation point, we can elevate our consciousness and move to higher states of consciousness. Viewing 1212 indicates that you have completed the lesson and are ready to take it to the next chapter. Moving on to that next chapter will align more with your soul’s journey and lead you to higher states. You can read more on how to get a ritual idea with 1212 energy here.

December 18-20: Sun at the Galactic Center

The Galactic Center contains supercharged energies and many untapped mysteries of the universe! As the Sun crosses this highly charged point, galactic energy is beamed toward Earth and directly into our core. Galactic energy can help us feel connected to our star origins and remind us that we are truly cosmic. By meditating and drawing in this Galactic energy, you can feel more expansive and more connected. You can learn more about this energy here.

The solstice is a magical time of year when we can honor the light and dark within. In the Southern Hemisphere, the December solstice brings the longest day of the year, where daylight reigns and summer begins. It is a time when energy flows in an outward direction, and we can focus on what we want to put into the world. In the Northern Hemisphere, the December solstice brings the longest night of the year and the beginning of winter. The energy flows in an inward direction, and we are directed to go inward and focus on our inner self. The solstice is celebrated by many cultures around the world. Many of the traditions we celebrate as Christmas, such as decorating pine trees, hanging wreaths, and giving gifts, are derived from pagan festivals honoring the solstice.

December 21: Capricorn season begins

Solstice coincides with the Sun moving into an earth sign. Capricorn represents the sea goat, which has the ability to climb the highest mountains and descend to the bottom of the ocean. It is difficult to climb with only two legs and swim with only one tail, but the more stable the sea turtle is, the more opportunities and the greater the position. The sea goat reminds us that no matter our circumstances, there is a way forward. By keeping ourselves safe and believing, we can do it! Use the earthy energy of Capricorn season to believe in yourself, especially when it comes to your goals. Your Capricorn seasonal horoscope is coming soon.

December 23: Capricorn Super New Moon

Capricorn season begins with the new moon, increasing its ability to bring fresh energy our way. This Capricorn New Moon is the second consecutive New Moon to fall at 1 degree. Interestingly, the next three new moons also follow this trend, with all new moons from November to March forming at 1 degree! These synchronicities are rare, so they always feel like a sign from the universe to pay attention to. One is the number of new beginnings, and new moons are the start of a new lunar cycle, so the idea of starting something new and welcoming new beginnings is definitely great! Chiron, the asteroid known as the Wounded Healer, is active under this Capri current New Moon, which, fittingly, looks like it’s going direct the next day. Stay tuned for your new moon forecast!

December 23: Chiron direct

Chiron has been traveling retrograde since July but will now station direct, increasing its energy. Chiron is known as the wounded healer. It represents the wounds that will forever be part of our identity. Chiron reminds us that it is within our power to take our wounds and transform them into powerful portals of healing, not only for ourselves, but for others as well. You can learn more about Chiron Retrograde here.

December 29: Mercury Retrograde

The last Mercury retrograde of the year occurs in the sign of Capricorn. Mercury is the planet of communication and our thought processes, so when it retrogrades stations, we can feel a little foggy, confused, and have a hard time figuring out how we feel. This, however, is only to challenge us to change old thought patterns and clarify what we really want to communicate. Mercury also rules travel and electronics, so we can sometimes experience problems in these areas. Many people fear Mercury Retrograde, but it is important to respect it as a natural rhythm and cycle of the universe. Mercury is known as the messenger of God, and in general, when we experience confusion and accidents when it is in retrograde, it can be a very good message for us! Usually, once the Mercury stations direct again, which will happen on January 18, the explanation will follow. With Mars retrograde at the same time, this Mercury retrograde can feel especially intense.
