The accused has been identified as Sunkara PrasanthSyed Azar AliRatnala Vishnu Vardhan, Vajjala Karunakar and Gurajapu Vinayaka Bhagya Teja.
City police chief Ch Srikanth said during the interrogation of the accused Sunkara Prasanth, Syed Azar. Ali, Ratnala Vishnu and Karunakar were classmates and students of hotel management in Vizag in 2014. A few months after joining the college, Prasanth left the college and joined the Flying Cats Institute for BBA course in Vizag and continues its relationship with others. In 2020, Prasanth started his own car business and sold four cars through financing. He had losses in the trade. He decided to overcome the financial losses and approached Azar Ali in Bengaluru in July 2022. He asked Ali to arrange medicines to recover his losses.
Police said Ali bought 50 gm of MDMA from his cousin Touheed in Bengaluru and gave Prasanth 1 lakh through money transfer. Later, Prasanth sold 50 gm of the drug to youths in Vizag through his friends.
As the New Year approached, Prasanth contacted Ali and asked him to arrange 90 gm of MDMA. Ali again gave 90 grams of MDMA to Prasanth, part of which he sold to one of these friends in Vizag city.
Making a statement, the police seized the drug and launched a manhunt to arrest several suspects in connection with the case.
