Visakhapatnam: The CPI (M) leader has asked the state government to issue a clarification on the proposal to take over 4,000 acres of land of Vizag Steel Plant on the demand of the state government and hold an all-party meeting to discuss the the problem.
The party questioned why the chief secretary attended the dashboard meetings of the Union steel ministry.
CPM district manager and GVMC the company Dr. B Ganga Rao and Steel Plant Union leader KM Srinivasa Rao said the central government has held preliminary discussions with Tata Steel, JSW, Adani and Posco companies and held road shows. “There are rumors that the local government has met to secretly conduct a business review. The local government is making plans with the support of the state government,” they said.
“The Center has conspired to sway public opinion by running the plant at a loss. This is being done with the CM’s support. Otherwise, he would have raised his voice against the Center. The CM should intensify the agitation in the local government regarding the issue of the steel plant and organize an all-party meeting and meet the Prime Minister with all the leaders,” said the CPM leaders.
