Due to threats being circulated in social media groups, high alert has been sounded at Visakhapatnam Railway Station and some other stations like Simhachalam and Marripalem.

“Following the violence at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday and rumors circulating on social media that Visakhapatnam and Guntur Railway Stations will be attacked by protesters against the Agnipath project, the We are on high alert in all areas of the Visakhapatnam railway station,” said Commissioner of Police Ch. Srikanth.

The Commissioner of Police visited the office on Friday evening and registered the appointment. He said those who commit the crime will be booked under Section 151 and 153 of the Traffic Act, which is a non-bailable offense and carries a five-year jail term. He appealed to the public and the youth to refrain from such activities. Action will be initiated under Section 30 of the Police Act.

The bandobust and deployment will be done jointly by the city police, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

“We know all the entrances, exits and vulnerable points and forces deployed,” he said.

It is understood that the roads will be maintained by GRP and RPF officials.

It is also known that the railway authorities are considering diverting the trains.
