Acton Boxborough women’s volleyball teams are playing. Usually held in the fall, this year women’s volleyball has been moved to a new season “Fall II” due to COVID-19. Teams were selected last week and matches begin on Tuesday, March 9.
The season will be shortened with the DCL championship round being held the week of April 12. Teams begin their season with matches against Waltham.
Changes to the game are minimal, with frequent masking and polishing required. No spectators will be allowed but all home matches will be streamed live.
Even with the changes and shortened seasons, athletes, especially seniors, are still excited and grateful to compete.
“I have never given up hope that we will have this season. I know it’s not what we planned, but it’s like a little gift to be able to play,” said senior team captain Chloe Hamilton. Senior Rachel Laporte added, “with everything going on this year and last year, I’m glad this season is going.”
Senior co-captain Justine Amory is looking ahead and realizing that “any chance to play is a great opportunity. I can’t wait to see what this season will bring.”
