The child’s parents are Dr. K Swathi Reddy
A final year medical student from Gitam Medical College in Visakhapatnam helped a pregnant woman deliver her baby aboard the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Duronto Express in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 28-year-old woman was returning to Vishakapatnam with her husband when she went to work by train.
The doctor said the delivery was done at the third AC ward where he was going.
The wife’s husband approached Dr Swathi around 3:30 AM and said that his wife was suffering from labor pain.
Although it was the doctor’s first delivery herself, things went exactly as planned as the woman delivered her baby right at 5:35 AM.
“I was very worried and scared because this was the first birth I did on my own. Before, I helped professors at the hospital. . I was relieved when the baby came out ,” Dr Swathi was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
After the delivery, the police arranged an ambulance at Anakkapalle railway station and shifted the woman and her newborn to the NTR Government Hospital.
Dr Swathi accompanied the mother and her son to the hospital and handed them over to the doctors. Despite being a premature birth, both the baby and its mother are doing well.
