VISHAKAPATNAM: Heavy rain is expected in five districts of north coastal Andhra starting September 19, IMD Amaravati predicted on Friday.

Dr. Karunasagar, Senior Scientist, said that the upper atmosphere will form in the next 48 hours, a low pressure area will develop over west central Bengal.

As a result, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, ASR and East Godavari districts will receive rain. The intensity of this rain will be seen in 24 hours, said Dr. Karunasagar.

However, the private website Skymet said that the system will not bring heavy rain to the southern parts of the peninsula of the country, as the system will move towards Gangetic West Bengal.

The Skymet report said that Karnataka, North Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Kerala are expected to witness light rain in the coming days. There may be some areas that experience rain showers. Other than that, light rain will remain.

There is no strong system in the west coast, however, an increase in rainfall is expected in Kerala or adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu. The East Coast has no weather system, indicating below normal rain in southern India in the coming days, the report added.
