A 66-year-old man from Visakhapatnam was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment on Monday under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) for raping a child.
Special judge K Rama Srinivas imposed a fine of Rs. 200 and command a salary of Rs. 4 lakhs. Identified as Sarika Venkata Ramana, also known as the Chocolate Man, the accused is a retired APSRTC employee and a resident of HB Colony.
The accused lured the seven-year-old boy, who was playing in the streets after school in the name of chocolate, to his house. He filed a complaint against the minor on December 15, 2020. The minor’s mother filed a complaint at the Arilova Shelter that evening. The Visakhapatnam police have registered cases under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act against the 66-year-old man for molesting a minor. The Disha police rushed the investigation under ACP G Prem Kajal and Police Commissioner Ch Srikanth.
The police collected relevant evidence and produced the accused in court. Special Public Prosecutor Karanam Krishna presented the case in court and found the accused guilty.

This is the second such case in the last two months. A POCSO court convicted a 73-year-old man for molesting a nine-year-old girl in October.
