Telugu Titans have yet another memorable season in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) this year. They finished last in the PKL 9th table after managing just two wins in their 22 league games. Despite being one of only three teams to have home field advantage this season, the Titans were unable to take advantage of it, suffering 20 losses in the process.
When the Pro Kabaddi 2022 auction ended, many believed that the Telugu Titans would not only qualify for the playoffs but also lift the PKL trophy this year. They fielded one of the best teams in PKL history, and with former Pro Kabaddi champion Manjeet Chhillar as their assistant coach, the Titans seemed destined for success.
However, a star team and a new coaching staff could not change the fortunes of the Telugu Titans. They won one more game than last season, but the fans expected a lot from them.
The Telugu Titans team management will once again go for a revamp in the new season. Most fans want to let all the players go and start over, but here are three names the Titans should keep.
#1 Captain Telugu Titans Parvesh Bhainswal
The Titans have changed their captain several times in the Pro Kabaddi 2022 season, but the last player to lead the side was Parvesh Bhainswal. The left back is the team’s top performer in defence. He emerged as a ‘Super Tackle Specialist’ for the Titans scoring 54 tackle points in 21 games.
Over the years, Telugu Titans have been known to have a weak defence, but this year, their defenders have been better than the attackers in most of the matches. Parvesh Bhainswal recorded a career-high six tackles and made 10 Super Tackles in his first season with the Titans.
Considering that there is not much left-back talent in the kabaddi world, Telugu Titans should consider keeping Bhainswal.
#2 Siddharth Desai
The Titans have many stars in their team, including Abhishek Singh, Monu Goyat, Rajnish Dalal, and Ankit Beniwal. Some felt that Siddharth Desai would not get a place in the starting seven.
But Desai made the most of the opportunities he got and scored 142 raid points in 17 games for the Titans, becoming a top scorer. Fans should note that Titans signed him at his base price of ₹20 lakh, which is why it is not a bad move to keep him for next season.
#3 Vishal Bhardwaj
Vishal Bhardwaj has struggled to score runs in the past, but overall, he has had a good season with the Titans. Playing at the left corner position, Bhardwaj scored 44 points. He made seven Super Tackles and also recorded two top 5s.
By securing Bhardwaj, Parvesh Bhainswal and Siddharth Desai, the Titans will have half of their seven-match squad ready for next season. They can refer other players on sale to fill the remaining spots.
